Peter Greenleaf is the President of MedImmune, the worldwide biologics arm for AstraZeneca. Mr. Greenleaf is responsible for leading one of the largest biotechnology employers in the region, and one of the founding companies of the mid-Atlantic biocluster.

Since becoming president in February 2010, Mr. Greenleaf has helped to shape MedImmune into an innovation-focused company that is poised to be the next revolutionary force in biotechnology. Under Mr. Greenleaf's leadership, MedImmune has: continued to experience rapid growth, adding nearly 700 employees and expanding the reach of each of MedImmune's campuses worldwide; opened an award-winning manufacturing facility in Frederick, Md.; struck a biotech-industry-first manufacturing capacity sharing deal with a major pharmaceutical company; presided over the expansion of MedImmune's solid pipeline; and oversaw a steady stream of industry-leading business development and venture deals that will ensure MedImmune's continued success.

Prior to becoming president, Mr. Greenleaf led the development of the company's global marketing and portfolio organizations, as well as managed the broader commercial, corporate development and strategy functions.

In addition to his duties at MedImmune, Mr. Greenleaf chairs the Maryland Venture Fund Authority. Appointed by Governor Martin O'Malley in August 2011, Mr. Greenleaf leads the Authority's charge to implement the InvestMaryland Program, the state's largest venture capital investment initiative that aims to spur job creation, fuel investment and innovation and revitalize venture capital funding. Adding to his external accolades, Mr. Greenleaf was also recently named as an "Influential Marylander" by The Daily Record for his impact on Maryland's business community and the success he has brought to the region. Mr. Greenleaf also serves on the board of trustees of the University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation, and the board of directors of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), the world's largest biotech trade organization.

Mr. Greenleaf joined MedImmune from Centocor, Inc., where he served as vice president of the gastroenterology franchise, responsible for sales, marketing, strategic planning and business development. He joined Centocor's cardiovascular division in 1998 and later moved into the immunology business, holding a number of positions with increasing responsibility. Previously, he was employed in key roles with Boehringer Mannheim Corporation and US Healthcare, Inc.

Mr. Greenleaf holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Connecticut State University and a Master's degree in business administration from St. Joseph's University.

William C. Bertrand Jr, JD

William ("Bill") C. Bertrand Jr., J.D.
Executive Vice President, General Counsel


Bill Bertrand serves as executive vice president, general counsel at MedImmune and is a member of MedImmune's executive leadership team. Mr. Bertrand currently has responsibility for legal affairs, regulatory affairs, corporate development, and MedImmune Ventures, the wholly-owned venture capital fund within the AstraZeneca Group. During his tenure at MedImmune, Mr. Bertrand has also had oversight for public affairs functions including external and internal communications, government relations, and advocacy. Mr. Bertrand also served as MedImmune's first corporate compliance officer from 2008 to 2010.

Mr. Bertrand was appointed the first general counsel of MedImmune in September 2003 after joining in 2001 as vice president, legal affairs. Under his leadership, MedImmune's legal affairs department has grown from 4 members to more than 50, covering all aspects of legal matters including intellectual property, transactions, contracting, compliance, promotional work, and litigation.

Prior to joining MedImmune, Mr. Bertrand served in legal positions at Pharmacia Corporation from 1997 to 2001, including litigation counsel, senior corporate counsel and associate general counsel. He had also been associate general counsel for a life insurance company and a partner at Dickinson, Wright, Moon, Van Dusen & Freeman of Lansing, MI. He has admissions to Michigan, Wisconsin, U.S. District Court, Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Bertrand currently serves on the company boards of Trustwave and Inotek. He previously served on the board of Brain Cells, Inc. He is also member of the board of directors for the Tech Council of Maryland and the Montgomery County Business Roundtable for Education (MCBRE). He is also a member of the Health Corp. Compliance Association, the American Corporate Counsel Association, American Bar Association and American Health Lawyers Association.

He has lectured at Seton Hall University School of Law and currently serves as an adjunct professor for biotech strategy in Johns Hopkins University's Carey School of Business.

Mr. Bertrand holds a bachelor of science degree in biology from Wayne State University and a juris doctorate (cum laude) from University of Wisconsin - Madison.

Scott Carmer

Executive Vice President, Commercial Operations


Scott Carmer joined MedImmune as executive vice president, commercial operations in July 2010. In this role, he is responsible for managing and directing the sales, marketing, sales operations, and global marketing functions. Mr. Carmer also plays an integral role in developing strategies to ensure the successful commercialization of MedImmune's current and future product portfolio.

Mr. Carmer brings to MedImmune more than 20 years of experience in the bio-pharmaceutical industry, most recently as Vice President of Rheumatology Sales and Marketing for Genentech. Before Genentech, Mr. Carmer was an executive director of global marketing at Amgen where he led a cross-functional international team responsible for the development and commercialization of products related to bone and metabolic disorders. Prior to Amgen, Mr. Carmer gained a great deal of his experience at GlaxoSmithKline. At GSK, he worked in brand management, business development, commercial operations, managed care contracting and direct sales.

Mr. Carmer holds a bachelor of science degree in microbiology from the University of Kentucky.

Max Donley

Executive Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Affairs


As Executive Vice President, Human Resources (HR) and Corporate Affairs (CA), Mr. Max Donley is responsible for delivering professional tools, programs and services in support of MedImmune's human capital investments worldwide, including all activities related to recruitment, retention, employee benefits and career development. In addition, as of 2011, Mr. Donley oversees corporate affairs activities including internal and external communications, corporate citizenship, advocacy and government affairs. He joined MedImmune in 2000 and has been promoted into several roles of increasing responsibility.

Prior to joining MedImmune, Mr. Donley was responsible for field HR and development for Bed Bath & Beyond, where he enjoyed a successful seven-year career building a scalable international HR infrastructure.

He holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and a master of business administration from George Mason University. Mr. Donley is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources through the HR Certification Institute at the Society for Human Resources Management.

Tim Gray assumed the role of Chief Financial Officer for MedImmune in November 2011. Tim oversees all corporate financial functions, and serves as a member of the MedImmune Executive Team (MET). Additionally, he is a member of the Global Commercial Finance Leadership Team, where he plays a critical role in helping to shape finance throughout AstraZeneca.

Mr. Gray joined MedImmune in 2008 as Director, Commercial Business Support Team, rapidly rising to the role of Senior Director, Operations Business Support Team. An accomplished finance and accounting professional, Mr. Gray was Vice President, Financial, International and Access at AOL, Inc., where he was instrumental in the company's global expansion while overseeing reductions in operating expenses for the US Access division.

Previously, Mr. Gray held progressively responsible positions with Nextel Communications including Director, Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis and Finance Director, Enterprise Accounts, among others. While with Nextel, Mr. Gray managed the annual operating budget, oversaw a range of corporate finance and planning functions, and spearheaded several initiatives for sales, G&A and corporate finance.

A Certified Public Accountant with a bachelor of business administration in accounting from the University of Notre Dame, Mr. Gray started his career as an accountant with Deloitte and Touche in Washington, D.C.

Bahija Jallal, Ph.D.

Executive Vice President, Research & Development


Dr. Bahija Jallal is Executive Vice President of Research and Development with oversight for research, development and clinical activities based at MedImmune's Gaithersburg, California and Cambridge, UK sites. Dr. Jallal joined MedImmune as vice president, translational sciences, in March 2006 and has been in positions of increasing responsibility.

Dr. Jallal has guided the MedImmune R&D organization through unprecedented growth and expansion of its biologics pipeline from 40 drugs to more than 140. She inspires creativity, out-of-the-box thinking and a dedication to scientific excellence to the more than 2,500 employees in her organization. As part of the MedImmune Executive Team and parent company AstraZeneca Research and Development Leadership Team, Dr. Jallal is passionate about leading and shaping MedImmune's rich pipeline of drugs targeting cancer, infections, respiratory and inflammatory diseases, cardio-vascular and gastrointestinal disorders and pain to ultimately develop new medicines for patients.

Dr. Jallal participated in Maryland's Governor O'Malley's Trade Mission to India where she represented the life sciences. Dr. Jallal is a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Maryland Health Sciences Research Park Corporation and has represented the life sciences industry at Maryland's Governor O'Malley's Trade Mission. She has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications and has over 15 patents. She is a member of multiple research associations and organizations promoting women in science. In 2011 she was named one of FierceBiotech's Women in Biotech.

Prior to joining MedImmune, Dr. Jallal worked with Chiron Corporation where she served as vice president, drug assessment and development, and successfully established the company's translational medicine group. Prior to Chiron Corporation, she worked at Sugen, Inc. where she held positions of increasing responsibility leading to senior director, research.

Dr. Jallal received a master's degree in biology from the Universite de Paris VII in France, and her doctorate in physiology from the University of Pierre & Marie Curie in Paris. She conducted her postdoctoral research at the Max-Planck Institute of Biochemistry in Martinsried, Germany.

Andrew Skibo

Executive Vice President, Operations


Andrew D. Skibo holds the role of executive vice president of operations at MedImmune as of 2011. In this role he will lead various projects, work with external partners, and continue to strengthen the Operations Management Team. Mr. Skibo joined MedImmune as senior vice president, engineering in December 2007. He was responsible for overseeing large-scale capital projects at all of MedImmune's facilities, including sites in California, Pennsylvania, Maryland, the Netherlands and the UK as well as the ongoing construction of the company's antibody-manufacturing facilities in Frederick, Maryland.

Previously, Mr. Skibo held the position of vice president, corporate engineering and capital projects at Amgen, Inc., responsible for restructuring and rebuilding the corporate engineering function on a global level. Before joining Amgen, Mr. Skibo served in engineering management positions focused on pharmaceuticals and bioscience at Skanska, Inc; Foster Wheeler Corp.; Life Sciences International, Inc.; A.D. Skibo & Associates, Inc.; and Genentech, Inc.

Mr. Skibo holds a master of science degree in chemical engineering with a specialty in biomedical engineering and a bachelor of science degree in organic chemistry, both from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
